Visitation

Visitation is distracting, particularly for younger students who tend to watch their parents rather than the instructor. Visitors are only allowed in the classroom during our scheduled viewing weeks, in November and March. Students are still trying to learn, please refrain from talking or distracting the class.

Questions, Suggestions, Complaints

Please direct all questions and problems to the Desk Manager. Dance instructors are occupied teaching classes. If no one is in the office, one of the dance assistants can process a tuition/costume payment. Communication is the key to our studio's success, you may also e-mail lisasislanddancecentre@gmail.com or leave a message on the studio phone (517)663-2738. All suggestions will be taken into consideration, but policies may/may not change.

Studio Courtesy

Please be on time to pick up your dancer; supervision is not provided outside of dance class. Please be sure to leave the office/studio neat and tidy.

Upon graduation from Eaton Rapids High School she furthered her dance education at Michigan State University and received a Bachelors of Art Degree in Dance, graduating in 1985 with honors. As a dance major Lisa had the opportunity to perform in the MSU Repertory Dance Company under the direction of Dr. Dixie Durr.   Lisa's ballet training has predominately been in the Vaganova method through Barbara Banasikowski Smith. Lisa has also studied with other master teachers including Dr. Dixie Durr, Maria Gribanova, Elisabeth Petrova, and Janice Barringer. Other dance training includes Jazz classes with Joe Tremaine, Frank Hatchett, Luigi, Gus Giordano, Matt Mattox, Jackie Sleight, and Darryl Retter. Tap training has been in the Al Gilbert graded syllabus with classes from Al Gilbert as well as other tap masters; Laurie Johnson, Michael Minery, and Greg Russell.   In addition to her work at LIDC, Lisa has performed several times with the Greater Lansing Ballet Company in The Nutcracker and Cinderella. In 2007, Lisa recieved the first annual Marjorie Perry Spirit Award from Dance Makers Inc. in Novi, Michigan. This award represents her dedication to dance education and passing on the love, dedication, enthusiasm, and passion of dancing to young dancers.

Being an I.D.E.A. member is a way of running our dance studios that is centered on positive dance education, a reinforcement of self-esteem of our students and a respect for other dance studios, their owners and faculty.
